Drama

Mrs. Baker comes in to run our weekly after-school Drama Club.

We are very proud of our whole school productions which take place twice a year.

Here are some pictures of the 'Leavers Play' in July.

The Arts at Abinger

The Year 3 children recently visited the Cranleigh Arts Centre to take part in a Life Drawing workshop.

ART WEEK - FEBRUARY 2008

During Art Week local artist Karen Lucas visited the school.  The children had been asked to design a mosiac on the theme of 'friendship'.  The chosen designs were amalgamated and work commenced!

All the children contributed to the work, placing broken tiles and crockery onto the wet cement.

The finished work is now displayed on the wall in the playground.

Music

Recorder Club

All the Year 2 children are learning the recorder.  Mrs Strachan is delighted with their very good progress in learning how to read the music whilst playing along with a soundtrack.

Choir

The choir, taught by Mrs Sharman, meets every Friday. The children performed very well at the Leith Hill Musical Festival in Dorking.

Music Recitals !

We have recently enjoyed two perfomances:

A choir visited Abinger Common School from The Czech Republic.  They sang three songs in a variety of languages.

In response Years 2 and 3 sang a French song they had recently performed at "The Big Sing" at The Priory School in Dorking.

Our other visitors were a flautist, Mr David Jewel, and his daughter who played the cello.

The children listened and asked the musicians questions. Alastair then played a duet with the flute on his recorder.

All children from Years 2 and 3 took part in a musical rectal in the Autumn Term.

Year 1 and reception formed the audience together with parents.

Other treats included performances on the piano and violin.

A jazzy number by the Year 2s

Even the mothers had been practising hard!
