Abinger Common School has a very supportive Parent /Teacher association called FOACS (Friends of Abinger Common School) which is a charity and raises money to purchase items for the school not usually covered within the school budget.
Every parent is a 'friend' and the fundraising, apart from being a lot of fun, raises approximately £5000 per year! This money is used for many projects which include school outings for the children, books, sports equipment, digital cameras, laptop computers and recently a Pirate Ship for the play area. Help is always needed and is most welcome.

A chance to give away outgrown toys and clothes; this event is a good fundraiser and we
try to ensure left over items are distributed to further charities.

Christingle Service Sunday 6th December
Near to the end of term, a beautiful service held by candlelight in St James's Church opposite the school,
followed by mince pies, and mulled wine at the school provided by FOACS.

FOACS committee cook the staff and the school governors a Christmas lunch, as they sit amongst the children and pull some crackers, and FOACS arrange for a party entertainer in the afternoon for the children .

A variety events have been offered in recent years including a Burns night, a quiz night and a sing-a-long film show. These are wonderfully sociable evenings for parents, staff and friends.
Mother's Day Sale DETAILS TBC
After school on the Friday before Mothers' Day, a handmade present is available,
made by the children to buy for Mum, and a cake & produce sale.
Mammia Mia Night!
A great night of food song and wine last year. Something similar perhaps
this year. Keep you posted!
Summer Term
Robin's Parents Get Together DETAILS TBC
A chance for all the Robin's Parents to have a (few?) drinks together.

The children undertake a sponsored event e.g. a sponsored walk to school.

In early July for parents or families, with delicious food, and often held in a
local farm barn or on the village green.
The Leavers PartyDETAILS TBC
At the end of term for the older children, this is a chance for children who are
leaving to have fun and say goodbyes, provided for by FOACS.
